Yellow Cards Prove Costly?

Yellow Cards Prove Costly?

Any plans to gate-crash the Europa League via the Fair Play League appear to be fading away.

With UEFA announcing that England has been awarded an extra place in the Europa League next season, a rash of bookings in our last two fixtures have seen Tottenham Hotspur climb to the top of the table.

Tottenham, currently fifth and in a qualification place for the Europa League if that situation remains the same would result in the team that comes in sixth grabbing that additional place.

I can`t help thinking, with this mischievous mind of mine that the fact that Mark Hughes bemoaned the fact that the close season would be shrunk to an unacceptable short period may well have had something to do with the plethora of yellow cards we`ve picked up in recent games or am I just being paranoid?

I think if Tottenham get 5th then we are still in with a chance, the spot won't go to the 6th placed team in the league it will go to the next highest in the fair play league which at the momnet is us. The first qualifying game is on the 30th June which doesn't leave much time for pre-season and if we do well it will make for a very long season again.

i think you're being a bit paranoid there putney, i doubt that sparky's telling them to go out and get yellow cards, as that is a precarious thing to do as it could lead to a red card and points dropped... i can only assume we won't make it back to the final, but even still it would be a great thing for the club... two season in the europa league in three is a pretty good record, and could bring talent to the club... it would seem that the preseason games could get sacrificed, but they are probably money making opportunities... let's hope it works out one way or the other...
