Fulham - Senderos Finally Gets to Wear The Shirt!

Fulham - Senderos Finally Gets to Wear The Shirt!

Saturday, up at the Stadium of Light and following on from the fine 3-0 win over Bolton in midweek, Mark Hughes took the decision to rest Brede Hangeland.

With Philippe Senderos finally fit again after his Achilles injury, it was a rare luxury for Hughes who has been, for so often, reliant on his centre back partnership of Hangeland and Aaron Hughes.

Senderos, the last signing of the Roy Hodgson era, had a comfortable game against a Sunderland attack shorn, by injury, of natural strikers. After the game, Senderos had a few words to say about finally making his debut,

"I had waited a long time to make my debut and I`m delighted to have finally pulled on the shirt."

And as for viewing from the side-lines, the Swiss international added,

"I`ve been on the side watching and we deserve to be in the top half. If we can achieve that it would be a good year."

Top half? We`re aiming for a possible seventh place finish!

Considering the long lay-off, I thought he played OK; a couple of mistakes (one almost causing us to concede a goal), but overall not too bad.

I think he will be a good addition and thus take the pressure of the h & h partnership. I was worried that he joined just before roy left and that hughes would not see him as part of the team and not want him......but it appears to have worked out.

teddy, i will concede that he was probably just rusty, but given to any other player, that free run at the keeper would have been a goal... steed hasn't scored in like 80 matches, thankfully... hopefully those error will go away with match fitness, but i'm not holding my breathe... let's never start him against chelsea, at the very least...
