'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Europe Full Steam Ahead!

Our remarkable record, as far as the Fair Play League goes, continues to give us more than an outside chance of earning one of the three places available in the Europa League next season for teams that behave themselves.

If we are that fortunate, it`ll mean an early start to the season but that`s something that Mark Hughes is prepared to sacrifice if it means we can anywhere near replicating our Europa League success of last season, with Mark commenting,

"It`ll mean we won`t have much holiday, but we`d take it and try to progress as far as we could."

"We had a fantastic adventure in Europe last year and it would be good to replicate that."

I`ll second that!

imagine... that would be ridiculous... would you start the campaign with more of a reserve side to try to rest your players and not burn them out? do you have to define a roster from the beginning of the competition?

if we have to start early it would be a great chance for some of the youngsters and new additions to the club to be tested. To be honest again i would not expect us to go far as now the europa cup is fast gaining a reputation as an important european title to win. And the winners also get to play the winners of the CL!
Leonestar
did we not start that fantastic Europa League campaign fairly early?
Putney
We did but not as early as we would if we go in through the Fair Play League!
Al Billy
even so our squad is strong enough to deal with that with a few more additions

I believe we started in the 3rd qualifying round last time. Starting in the 1st would add at least a month to the grind, I think. With the exodus that appears to be brewing, we'll likely need to use Hoesen, Dalla Valle, Kacaniklic and some of the other youngsters, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
Teddy_KGB
these players should be able to deal with the lesser teams
