Hughes - Onwards and Upwards!

Our first away this season, a convincing 3-0 win up at the Stadium of Light has propelled us up to 9th place in the table.

Those thoughts of being dragged back into the relegation battle, courtesy of some tricky fixtures, have been banished in the space of a few short days.

Now, with our Premier League future assured, Mark Hughes is looking to finish the season with a bang.

Speaking to the media following our fine and most welcome away win, Hughes had this to say,

"We will keep going. We have two difficult games coming up and it will not be easy but we will do our best."

"It is important for the club and the team that we finish in the top 10. That is an achievement."

"I don`t think this club has achieved a top-10 finish in the Premier League on too many occasions."

"If we can do that it augers well for next season."

And as for the performance yesterday it appears Hughes was more impressed with the second half, when he confirmed,

"I wasn`t too enamoured with the way we played in the first half. We can produce a lot better than we showed. But they took on board what I said at half-time. More often than not I do get a response."

"We got the job done and we`re delighted with where we find ourselves."

"This feels more like my team. As a group they are fantastic."

Time to get that new contract signed?

that would be great to finish with some good performances. With arsenal and liverpool coming during the best period of our season i am looking forward to hughes really testing these teams!
they will be two tough games but an indication of where we are in terms of development
if we could get four points from the two games we'll have done well!
