'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hughes Reflects on Old Trafford Defeat

Beaten again at Old Trafford, it was a rueful Mark Hughes that faced the media.

Having witnessed his side conceding two sloppy goals, the first of which was offside, Sparky seemed a little perplexed when asked about events, remarking,

"We didn`t make life easy for ourselves, even though the first goal was offside."

"At 1-0 down against United it`s difficult, but it was a comedy of errors for the second goal."

"We didn`t hold United down and we gave them a platform to secure a result. We should have stopped Nani both times, but he`s an excellent player and he can hurt teams."

"We were poor and I get the feeling the players are scarred by their previous games at United. We know United have the resources and can make a lot of changes but we can still make a fist of it."

But, despite his own-misgivings about his own sides performance, he tipped his old club to finish the season with a bucketful of trophies, remarking,

"United are ticking the games off and they can win the treble from here."

"Sir Alex will tell you how difficult that is to achieve, but they can do it."

Personally, I think Barcelona might have a word or two to say about that!
