Fulham - Schwarzer to Go On And On!

Now that the talk of a move to Arsenal has finally died down, Mark Schwarzer has grand plans for the future.

Our Australian goalkeeper, playing as well as ever, wants to continue between the posts until he`s in his forties, remarking to the media,

"I don`t think there is any age where you could say a goalkeeper can`t play any more. You just have to set yourself goals."

"In the back of my mind I`m looking at the 2014 World Cup - I`ll be 41."

"Players like Edwin van der Sar have shown that at 40 you can still play at the top level. I`ve got no immediate plans to retire at all."

And as for a method to ensure he achieves his targets, it looks like it`s all down to taking care of his body, something more of us should really do, when he further comments,

"People in my boat always say that they feel like they`re 21 years old. That`s obviously not the case but I don`t get out of bed feeling sore."

"In fact, I feel better after games now than throughout my career."

"I`m in the gym four days a week, I do a lot of weight training, conditioning and strengthening work."

"I`ve changed what I eat and when I eat it. It`s not rocket science. I don`t eat carbohydrates too late and have added more protein and vegetables to my diet. I`ve worked hard on lowering my body fat."

Unfortunately, I reckon David Stockdale might not be too impressed with this news!

Why not? He's in great form and shows no sign of getting worse. However he may like to end his career in Australia. Some players like to end their careers in the home nation.
