Fulham - Non-league star signs

Fulham's continuing efforts to build for the long-term future, as well as the immediate, have seen them capture the signing of a non-league teenage star.

16-year-old Luton striker Cauley Woodrow has joined Fulham for a six-figure fee, which could eventually see Luton receive what would be a record fee received by a non-league side.

Woodrow becomes the latest Luton youngster to step-up from the blue square premier to premier league from his age group, which is something that youth development officer Gregg Broughton is very proud of.

He was sorry to see the talented teen move on but it is a move that will benefit everyone, he told the official Luton website: 'while we are disappointed to lose a player of Cauley's calibre, the move will benefit him, the club and all the young players at the centre of excellence.

'He came to us three years ago and during that time has been exceptional in everything he has done on and off the pitch.

'It means we now have three players from this age group plying their trade with Premier League clubs.'

The England U17 international, in doing so he became the first non-league player to win a full cap in an age group since 1974, will net Luton a decent sell-on fee should he ever leave Craven Cottage.
