Fulham - Summer Clear-Out!

It is something that was probably to be expected!

Mark Hughes took over the managerial post, at Craven Cottage, last summer, without really having enough time to use the transfer window to shape the squad in his own manner.

Although Hughes had the January transfer window to slightly manipulate matters, there`s a theory that buying in January is tantamount to panic buying.

Therefore, this summer gives Roy the ideal time to shape the squad and guide us into next season with a squad that he believes will allow him to express his managerial strengths.

To this extent the local newspapers are already predicting that Hughes will off load four, but most probably six, of his current first team squad this summer, with the names in the frame being - John Pantsil, Zoltan Gera, Eddie Johnson, Diomansy Kamara, Bjorne Helge Riise and Kagisho Dikgaco.

Here at Vital Fulham we`re asking the question, has the local newspaper gauged things right?

Your opinions would be most welcome.

I would not be surprised. He has really worked hard to get the players to adjust to his style, some have and some have not. So to be fair atleast the ones that go would have had their chances this season. Please mr hughes buy an attacking playmaker in midfield and some defenders.

little freudian slip calling sparky "roy" eh? i miss him too... but they all need to go... painstil is good, if he has the manager's confidence, which he does not, so he doesn't serve us... think (sir) roy will pick him up? why not if he's on the cheap... i guess riise's too old to be a prospect... and why isn't greening on that list? i'd rather have dikgacio than greening, but that's because i hate greening...

Hughes or no Hughes, we're in need of a makeover. Our squad is one of the oldest in the PL. We absolutely need a replacement for Danny Murphy. O'Hara or Salihovic would suit me. I wouldn't mind signing a replacement for Duff on the right wing. Someone like Chris Brunt would be perfect. We're weak at rightback and leftback, also. Pantsil's poor form is surprising, and Baird is a better defensive mid than rightback. Salcido started well enough, but he's been exposed defensively. I actually think Konch was better. I'd like to see us get Nathaniel Clyne at RB and if Wigan are relegated, perhaps Maynor Figueroa at LB.

figueroa would be a steal at LB... whatever happened to nickey shorey? i still prefer him to Konch, and maybe even salcido... brunt is a solid player as well, and i wouldn't mind him coming in... o'hara would be great, and unfortunately i don't know salihovic off the top of my head... bring them all in...

Salihovic plays for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. He's a free kick specialist and a pretty good assist man, though he tends to pick up too many yellow cards for my liking. I'd certainly prefer O'Hara as he's a known commodity in the PL.
