Fulham - New AJ Deal!

Fulham - New AJ Deal!

Hot on the heels of returning to the form he displayed before his spell of injuries knocked him back, Andrew Johnson now has the added bonus of being a wanted man.

Johnson, who will see his contract expire in eighteen months time, has been the subject of some kind words from Mark Hughes who has remarked,

"He has 18 months left and I want to keep him. He had a significant injury and he`s been out for a considerable length of time."

"He`s missed a lot of football and we`re hopeful now that he`ll have a run of games and his career will progress without injury."

"We`re starting to see the best of him. Now thankfully he`s added goals. He`s in good shape at the moment."

He was in the England squad prior to his injury problems. Who is to say that if he keeps himself fit he can`t get himself back in those squads."

Indeed, and alongside Bobby Zamora possibly!

If you'd asked me a month ago, I'd have said 'NO F'IN WAY,' but, AJ has been brilliant of late, so it's hard to be objective on this one. Given his age, propensity for injury and the potential opportunity to reclaim some or all of that ridiculous transfer fee, it might be a good idea to so sell him this summer. At the very least, good sense dictates that even if we want to keep him, we need to look at an extension next January. I don't think it's a good idea to offer an extension now based on a couple of months worth of work.
