Fulham - All About Continuity!

At a time when many sides treat the FA Cup with a degree of contempt, how refreshing was it to see that Fulham played, as Mark Hughes promised, a very strong side in the 6-2 rout of League One side, Peterborough United.

If you analyze matters, the two domestic cups are the only trophies clubs like ours have a chance of winning, although Premier League survival is essential, there`s nothing like a good old cup run to boost confidence.

After the game, Hughes spoke about his reasons for fielding such a strong side, briefly commenting,

"We picked a strong side because we`re on a good run and I wanted to keep that continuity. As a result we saw the game out pretty comfortably."

As for the opposition, perhaps Peterborough should also be congratulated for the manner in which they played what was a hugely entertaining game, a fact acknowledged by their boss, Gary Johnson, who remarked after the match,

"We gave a Premier League side some problems, and gave the fans something to shout about."

Is it too much to hope that we get similar fare served up in round four?

I was going to write something snide about the Hughes' switch to 'continuity' vs. 'luck' being the key to success, but I'll just enjoy the win.
