Fulham 6 Peterborough 2

Mark Hughes saw his side smash six past Peterborough this afternoon to ease past Peterborough United in the FA Cup 3rd round this afternoon.

Mark Hughes was true to his word and fielded a strong starting eleven for the visit of League One side Peterborough United in this FA Cup 3rd round clash, In fact, if we recall right, it was the same starting eleven that started against West Bromwich Albion in midweek. For the opposition, Gabriel Zakuani was making a return to Craven Cottage.

Fulham opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when Diomansy Kamara headed home an excellent cross from Chris Baird from four yards out. As half time approached Dickson Etuhu doubled the lead, the goal coming from a Damien Duff cross that was deflected into the path of Dickson who fired past Lewis in the Peterborough goal.

The only negative aspect of the first half was a yellow card for Brede Hangeland for unsporting behaviour.

Half Time - Fulham 2 Peterborough 0

Both sides made a change at half time. Mark Hughes introduced Zoltan Gera in place of Simon Davies whilst Gary Johnson introduced Mendez-Laing in place of Whelpdale.

Fulham put the game out of Peterborough`s reach when Kamara scored his second of the afternoon racing onto a Danny Murphy through ball to go one-on-one with Lewis to score.

A dispirited Peterborough side were soon 4-0 down when Zoltan Gera headed neatly past Lewis some seven minutes after Kamara had made it 3-0.

All credit to Posh though for refusing to give up and our visitors pulled a goal back when Tomlin, nothing more than a consolation though, surely! And that proved to be the case when Kamara wrapped up his hat-trick, putting Fulham 5-1 up, with a shot from inside the box.

Posh reduced the arrears again when McCann scored from the spot after Halliche, on for Hangeland) fouled Mackail-Smith.

Soon after, as the final whistle approached, the four goal margin was restored when Jonathan Greening, on for Clint Dempsey, scored our sixth of the afternoon, scoring from inside the area after an assist from Gera.

Perhaps the only disappointing aspect of a great afternoon was the low attendance, a mere 15,936

Roll on round four!

as should kamara's... don't get seduced by a hat trick against a league one side... how many headed goals does he score normally...
