Fulham - Hughes on Sidwell Capture!

Fulham - Hughes on Sidwell Capture!

Like a thoroughbred coming up on the rails, Fulham finally got their man last night.

Having been linked with a move to either West Ham or Wolves, it was West London that finally captured the signature of Steve Sidwell.

Many pundits were a little surprised when the news broke, but it appears that Mark Hughes was simply biding his time, giving the following quote to the media post the signing,

"Steve is player I have admired for some time. His intention was always to come here. That was his first choice."

"He is a box-to-box player who can get you goals."

And as for those rumours that Sidwell only came to London to ease family problems,

"This is not a lifestyle choice - he wants to be part of what we are doing here."

Welcome to Craven Cottage Steve Sidwell!

Decent player, IF he wants to play, sadly the last couple of years he seemed happy picking up his OTT (IMO) wages

Crap player, goes missing to often and gives the ball away far to much.

Not my first choice, but he should give us a little more midfield punch. Wonder if he sends Murphy to the bench? That'd be my guess (and preference).

I think its a good deal. He is on a six month contract to prove himself, then 3 year deal if all is well. Clever idea. I really think he wants to play for fulham. He is a local lad (wandsworth) and i guess wants to be back in london.I think he will do well as if he fails and is off-loaded in the summer, he will struggle to get to another prem club even outside of the london. So it is in his best interest to work hard abd prove his worth. Plus I am sure Wolves and West Ham offered him longer contracts than us as they are more desperate for players than us! Welcome Steve!!
