Fulham - Obvious Problems!

This may be written in some frustration, but the current problems are clear to see.

First, Mark Hughes clearly doesn't have the respect of the players. They didn't come out in the second half looking fired up whilst Clint Dempsey's reaction to being substituted said it all.

The lack of cohesion between the units of the team and the errors culminating in goals are becoming so apparent. For the last two seasons, the defence has been rock solid with the team defending as one, whilst now there are gaping holes between the parts of the team.

The key change to the team has backfired. Sure, it would have been difficult to stop Paul Konchesky from joining Liverpool, but Carlos Salcido has been awful for a while now and his numerous mistakes are costing us too many goals. I would gladly take Konchesky back in a heart beat now.

The loss of Bobby Zamora has been vital, but Hughes has had four months to formulate a plan B, yet he has failed to do this well and the return of our main man can't happen sooner.

I would argue that Hughes has somehow performed as badly as Lawrie Sanchez as manager, his lack of passion in the post match interviews is deeply worrying and he just doesn't seem to 'fit' our club. I would argue that Hughes needs to go now before things get any worse.

Couldn't agree more, Alex. Though, I'm holding judgement on Salcido. He's not impressed me defensively, but if Hughes is telling him to push forward all the time, then it's hardly his fault that he's constantly out of position. We'll see, I guess. I'm not confident Jol can bring us out of this, but I'm POSITIVE Allardyce can.

Perhaps Hughes has fallen into Sanchez's trap. Sanchez banked on McBride being fit to win the headers on his long ball game and Hughes banked on Zamora being fit. It's bizarre that the team defended so well under RH and now the same players look totally vulnerable at the back. Is Hughes as big a disaster as Sanchez? I don't think we can say so until Hughes is given as much money as Sanchez wasted on useless players.

Sanchez was by far worse. Hughes came in relatively late so didn't have a lot of time to see what players would benefit us. He also has drawn more games and not lost any way near as many as Sanchez. Sanchez also had a huge sum of money to work with when he came in, and a whole summer to use it. Its a huge conundrum for us, but I think we have to stick with him, to the summer anyway. A new striker and midfielder in the transfer window will be a huge boost for us, along with Bobby back in Feb, how will we not score goals? With scoring goals, the pressure on the defence will die down a bit and they should start performing again. I still believe their the best part of our team. Its just with no one scoring, they have a huge pressure to on them to be the ones to save us points. Hell, even Aaron Hughes scored his first ever goal for us. No matter how massively frustrated I am, I still have faith.

somehow i always see it as a bad omen when someone random scores the first goal in forever... last year or two years ago, konch scored a peach against west ham, and we lost 3-1... oddly familiar now that i come to think about it... it was utterly disgusting...
