Fulham - Ireland Deal?

If going for the services of an out-of-sorts David Bentley, albeit an out-of-sorts David Bentley that Mark Hughes knows so well then perhaps the challenge of luring a second of his ex-players to Craven Cottage could also be an idyllic scenario.

The player in question is Stephen Ireland, a player Hughes knows so well from his time at Manchester City, but a player who, as part of the deal that took James Milner to Eastlands, has struggled at Villa Park.

Ireland has expressed a desire to return to the north-west, although quite why we struggle to fathom out, and with Everton keen to lure him in that direction it may be something of a lost task, but I think you have to agree that if Hughes could lure Ireland and Bentley to Craven Cottage and get both to reproduce their best form we could well be a far different proposition, team-wise, than we are at present!

We definitely need central midfield help, but I have no interest in Ireland. My opinion of him has dropped considerably the past two seasons. He doesn't work very hard, particularly in defense and just seems to be going through the motions a Villa. He has talent, but I think it would be a dangerous move. Go get Sejad Salihovic from TSG Hoffenheim! Much more to offer than Ireland.

i would not be upset if we passed him by, or he passed us by...

I'm worried that this media stuff over ireland is putting him in a position to bargain for the best money move as many clubs are desparate for a lad of his talents. Its becoming a joke and it will not be about his career...i think he has lost the love of football.....sparky could give him that back again....but its a very risky move!!!!
