Fulham - Hughes on Sack Threat!

Following on from what appears to be high-season when it comes to sacking managers, with Chris Hughton and Sam Allardyce both being dismissed in recent weeks, our own Mark Hughes has spoken out about the effects such an action has.

Hughes, who has seen his future questioned by some of our members, has vivid memories of what it feels like to be on the end of a swinging axe from his time at Manchester City, has remarked to the tabloid journalists,

"Nothing ever changes and nothing ever surprises me."

"At all clubs you need longevity and consistency in terms of the selection of managers, players and staff. If you don`t have it then it is more difficult to be successful."

"I have experienced the events of this week myself and it doesn`t just affect the manager as an individual, it affects your family and friends and everyone around you."

And we`d like to add that quite often whilst results may improve in the immediate short term, often the aforementioned action does nothing but destabilize other matters within a club, especially if the person removed form office hasn`t been given sufficient time to prove his worth!

Relegation costs a lot of money. It can be the ruin of a club. Struggling lower mid-table is one thing. Struggling near or at the bottom is another. With the price of relegation so high, it's difficult not to react when other managerial talent is available that might turn your fortunes. Good luck Sparky. I hope a few wins are in our near future and all this talk can be put to bed.

I will put my hands up and say that I am one of those who did come out and question Mark Hughes'es contribution this season. With time to reflect you could say, and with the article Teddy posted yesterday, I now accept that with any manager we would be in this position, possibly even worse. We have to stick with him as losing your star striker and losing your other summer signings to injuries for parts of theseason means that Sparky must work with the team Hodgson built. Role on Jan/Feb when he can make his own team and our star striker is back!

Well said RC....lets just get behind the team and support them! We will turn it around! There are other clubs above us who are in a more difficult circumstances!
