Fulham - Missing Zamora!

This season is starting to look a real struggle, possibly something that was noticed by the Craven Cottage crowd on Saturday as we played out yet another draw.

With chants of 'Bobby Zamora` filling the air, Mark Hughes couldn`t help but mention our stricken striker when addressing the media afterwards when he commented,

"There`s a little bit of frustration but I think they were isolated shouts."

"We are missing a Bobby Zamora type and he will not be back until the end of January or start of February if everything goes to plan."

"So if there`s someone we can bring in to help us, we will look at it."

"But more often than not strikers cost a lot of money at Premier League level, so we will have to see."

Matters are not really helped by having Mousa Dembele side-lined as well are they!

Yes, they do cost a lot of money, but relegation will cost a lot more. Might I suggest something that other clubs often employ, but Fulham seems to under utilize - LOANS! And, I mean loans for actual decent Premier League players; not aging central mids and constantly crocked youth from Championship sides. Carew and Keane seem to be available. Pickup the phone, Marko. Work some magic in January.

Cruz on loan and either Bently on a permanent or a loan. Also agree with Teddy on keane and carew. Any 2 of those 4 will do us well. Don't see Kamara or Eddie Johnson holding their places.

why not give sir alex a call see if he will let you have scholes and giggs

I've read some rumors that we're interested in Michael Carrick, which I hope isn't true. We already have enough midfielders who can't score. If we were looking for a loan from United, it should be Macheda. That kid is going to be great one day, and he's certainly better than our current (available) forwards.

it's a tough call between the two.. on talent i'd say carew and i think keane's past it, but he's always hurt and the last thing we need is another striker on the injury table... mark also needs to shed the fat... either eddie johnson or kamara should go... eddie i guess, but kamara also really...

kamara need a good run in the team which he never got

For my money, a loan for Carew would be perfect. He is very similar to Zamora in style and is a better scorer. We don't need him permanently as Zamora just signed a new deal, but it would get us through the next few months without Zamora. Keane is not what he was a few seasons ago, but he's still better than what we have now. Again, I don't want to be too down on Dembele as he's not had enough time to show what he can do. We need midfield help as well. I'm not big on Bentley, but he would provide better service to the forwards and be more of a threat on set pieces than we have now.

If a striker has to make way, let it be Eddie Johnson. I said it when he signed: he's out of his depth in the EPL. He has done nothing to prove me wrong so far.

Dembele will be one of our best players at the end of the season. He's been hugely unfortunate with injuries which have prevented him from getting into his rhythm. Looking at the names mentioned there are a good few players we could get, but do we want a loan or a permanent? Its clear we don't have a plan B so would a loan, unless it becomes permanent, really be what we want?

`eddie johnson not the greatest but again the lad has not had much first team football and conferdence needs to be built

Good points, RC, but I think that with Zamora having just signed a new deal and us already being saddled with the huge transfer fee for AJ that we'll never recoup, that loans would be a better solution, right now. I don't think we'd want both Carew and Zamora because they essentially fill the same role. I could understand a permanent for Keane, but it depends on the cost. If it's 4-5m, then fine, but if it's more than I really don't think it's good business to sign a 30-something on questionable form for 7-9m. Again, we already made that mistake with AJ. Plus, even if we could afford the transfer fee, there's always the question of weekly wage, which is the primary reason we don't go after some players. Mo has strict guidelines on that. That's why I think all the Man City castoffs are out of reach for us. We could never afford their weekly salaries. Honestly, I'd rather see loans for strikers and permanent transfers midfield as midfield is and will be our primary weakness.

I've seen a couple of rumors regarding a possible move for Landon Donovan on loan. I think that would be a brilliant piece of business. He was never my favorite player, but I was terribly impressed with his loan spell at Everton last season, so my opinion has changed.
Teddy_KGB
may be we can ofload aj and get santa for christmas
