Tomorrow will be the first time Mark Hughes, since being relieved of his duties at Manchester City, will come face to face with those who showed him the door.
Watching the situation from afar back then, there consensus of opinion was that Hughes was harshly treated by those in charge at City.
Speaking ahead of the chance to get some sort of revenge, via a sparkling win, Mark has commented about those goings on and it`s clear that it is still something he has deep thoughts about, especially the fact that City were actively going behind his back to source his replacement whilst he was still pulling the strings, or as Mark remarks,
"People understood at the time that maybe there were things going on that were a little bit disrespectful to me and the job I was trying to do there."
"It doesn`t sit comfortably with me and I don`t think I`d ever have done it. It`s difficult to respect their position."
At the beginning I had a lot of support, but towards the end, when I needed the support it was absent."
And as for the tapping up,
"Clubs certainly come to you and ask 'Are you interested`. But I always say 'I wasn`t aware there was a vacancy."
"But if the wheels are set in motion then these things happen. I`m not naïve enough to think it doesn`t. But I`m big enough to understand it."
If City can be put to the sword tomorrow then I reckon Mark Hughes will have the broadest smile in football, don`t you!
