Fulham - Konchesky Who?

With John Pantsil, cult hero extraordinaire, currently out of the favoured starting eleven, a new cult hero is fast emerging, our Mexican full back Carlos Salcido.

Salcido is rapidly showing that he`s much more than a cultured defender and can offer us an offensive edge.

On Saturday, our first goal came courtesy of a sublime cross from him, converted by Clint Dempsey and Salcido could have boasted two assists if the finishing hadn`t have been a touch faulty on another occasion.

When Paul Konchesky was sold to Liverpool, to rejoin Roy Hodgson, there were doubts expressed about us having an adequate replacement but Mark Hughes never had any doubt about filling the vacancy, explaining post match,

"If I felt Konchesky leaving us I wouldn`t have allowed it to happen."

"But I felt with Carlos it was not a risk allowing Konchesky to leave. Now you`re seeing a player who really enjoys the Premier League."

And an early candidate for our Player of the Year perhaps!

Salcido has been great. I wasn't overly concerned about replacing Konchesky, but I knew we needed better than Kelly. Didn't expect such a great replacement, though.
