Fulham got back to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Wigan, their first win since the day Wolves were beaten and Bobby Zamora suffered a severe injury.
The win moved Fulham way up the table and made our situation look a lot healthier than it had before the game.
After fielding something resembling a walking wounded midfield last time out Mark Hughes was able to call upon the services of Simon Davies and Danny Murphy for this encounter.
Up front, despite Andrew Johnson being fit again, Mark opted to play Clint Dempsey and Moussa Demble. The selection of the former was to prove a master-stroke with Dempsey getting the two goals that wrestled all three points from Roberto Martinez side.
Fulham were by far the better side from the off and could have benefited from an early lead if Brede Hangeland had of been more accurate with two chances that fell his way.
Wigan did have one dangerous forward though and Charles N`Zogbia showed why he`s so highly regarded when he drifted past several players but shot over.
With thirty minutes gone though, Fulham were ahead. Zoltan Gera fed Carlos Salcido and his excellent cross was headed home by Dempsey, for his third League goal of the season.
The lead was doubled, on the stroke of half time, when Demspey got his second goal of the half volleying home wonderfully a Chris Baird cross.
After the excitement of the first half the second half proved to be something of an anti-climax that was until Andrew Johnson came on as an 80-th minute substitute.
The striker thought he`d earned at least two penalties as he twisted and turned in the box but both were waved away.
Despite the lull in the action, for much of the second half, it has to be said it was an entertaining game and the result was most welcome.
