Fulham 1 Spurs 2
Spurs took the honours in this London derby although they will be dating long into the night the legitimacy of the winning goal, credited to Huddlestone!
Mark Hughes was able to welcome back Moussa Dembele to the starting eleven after his summer signing had been injured at Stoke. Diomansy Kamara was chosen to play alongside him but there was an enforced change in midfield with Jonathan Greening replacing the injured Dickson Etuhu. Davies, against a former club, was selected for his 300th career league start. Chris Baird was also preferred to either John Pantsil or Stephen Kelly at right back. Kamara was making his first start for over a year.
For Spurs, Harry Redknapp was able to welcome back William Gallas and Ledley King with Aaron Lennon having recovered sufficiently to take up a place on the Spurs.
Spurs started by far the better pushing Fulham back and getting on top. Pavlyuchenko collected a cross from Bale but shot just past the post from a good angle.
Fulham, from their first decent attack, saw a Davies corner almost produce a goal but the headed effort from Kamara went wide. Fulham, after the poor start, were now on top and Hughes was another who missed a good chance after a Modric error before Kamara finally gave Fulham the lead tapping in from close range after some great work from Dempsey.
Spurs weren`t behind for long, about a minute, with Van der Vaart producing a sublime turn and chip, from sixteen yards, to beat Schwarzer, the ball hit the underside of the bar and Pavlychenko was on hand to equalise just past the half hour mark.
Gomes produced a great save to deny Kamara as the action swung from end to end. Just before half-time Spurs lost Ledley King through injury with Bassong coming on in his place. All square at half time.
Redknapp brought on Lennon for Sandro at half time and almost had an instant impact when he picked out Van der Vaart but Schwarzer saved with his feet. The game continued to switch from end to end and Baird, pushed into midfield after the introduction of Kelly, headed over whilst Lennon saw his shot go straight to a grateful Schwarzer.
Unfortunately, Spurs were to go ahead after sixty-three minutes. Bale took a corner and it reached Huddlestone thirty-five yards out, took a deflection off Baird and nestled in the net. Initially the linesman flagged for offside but Gallas, in an offside position wasn`t deemed to have been in an offside position.
Schwarzer produced a great save to deny Hutton before Kamara spooned a glorious chance over the bar. Eddie Johnson came on for Greening as Fulham tried to rescue a point but it wasn`t to be, the unbeaten run, in the Premier League, had gone.
