Fulham - Attacking Dilemma?

The major controversy from the League Cup clash against Stoke was the injury suffered by Moussa Dembele. His injury, along with Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson's respective injuries leave us with a threadbare attack ahead of the Everton game.

Based on the reports that Mark Hughes sees Clint Dempsey as a striker and Zoltan Gera being on the bench for the Premier League clashes, it seems there are three attacking pair's to choose from - Dempsey/Gera , Dempsey/Johnson or Dempsey/Elm.

Seeing as Dempsey and Gera are both attacking midfielder's by nature, it strikes me as lacking the target man or a focal point at the head of the attack, despite the quality of both players.

David Elm seems out of favour with Hughes and height, he would surely be lacking in the match practice to feature from the off.

That leaves us with Dempsey and his best mate Eddie Johnson. Johnson has featured from the bench this season and his pace and understanding with Dempsey seems like an attractive option to play against Jagielka and Distin. Personally, this would be my preferred option but who would the Fulham faithful like to see up top against Everton?

Personally, I'd roll the dice and go with Gera and Johnson up top, and leave Dempsey in his midfield role. I just don't think we've very good with Dempsey up top. Gera doesn't score much in the league, but he works so hard and makes a nuisance of himself that it might let Johnson, Dempsey or Duff get free for a pop at goal.

not a bad idea... seems like that's not going to happen, and with duff returning and davies in, that leaves dempsey out... so it makes a little sense to get him in as a forward... EJ has looked off the pace, but hopefully he can use the tools he has to produce something spectacular...

this just in: http://www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsArticles/2010/September/EvertonTeamNews.aspx It seems that Kamara is back in the fold! Could there be a late entry for striker partner for Dempsey? I think so... Let's hope his timing works perfectly and he takes over while Dembele and Zamora are laid up...
