Fulham - Hughes on Zamora Deal!

Following on from the very welcome news that Bobby Zamora has put pen to paper on a new deal, Mark Hughes has gone on record to explain the reasoning behind the urgency to get Bobby secured to a long term deal.

Hughes, speaking ahead of the clash this afternoon with Wolverhampton Wanderers, has also remarked about Bobby`s international chances, commenting,

"Strikers usually peak at around the age he is. There is more to come from Bobby."

"Signing the deal will do him no harm whatsoever."

"I have been impressed with what I have seen and I underestimated his ability, as did a lot of other people."

I was also impressed with how he did in his first England game. If he keeps his form he can do well."

"I quickly came to recognize his quality. Although his contract had two years to run, it`s important to get your best players tied down on longer-term deals."

Like we said yesterday, the best bit of news we`ve had all week.

Just our luck. Zamora signs a new contract then breaks his ankle.

zamora will recover and be good again... i don't think it was as "horrific" of an injury as others have seen...
