'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fulham - A Bit Part Player?

I`m probably not too far wide of the mark if I were to suggest that Jonathan Greening isn`t everyone`s cup of tea.

Some supporters are puzzled as to why the option to buy him after his season long loan was exercised.

Nevertheless, it is our duty to get behind our players, after all what chances have got if we`re berating our own instead of the opposition?

Midfielder Jonathan Greening is keen to break into the Fulham side and prove he can do a job for his club.

Greening has yet to establish himself in the starting eleven but has spoken to the official site about his intentions if he does, commenting,

'I am just trying to work hard and wait for my chance to get on the field.'

'Danny and Dickson have been doing a good job so I've just got to be patient."

'I'm ready and I've got to take my chance so the manager would find it difficult to leave me out.'

Fine sentiments but unless Dickson or Danny get injured I fear Greening will remain nothing more than a bit part player!

I'd just like him to do something outstanding instead of playing it simple all the time!

why do you think United let him go? he ain't up to it!

Now I am one of those who doesn't like this guy. His problem seems to be he can only play square. He can't make diagonal passes. This makes him an easy player to predict which may be the reason he has to pass back to the defence or the wing 99% of the time. Its nothing personal, he's just not good enough for Fulham or, in my opinion, the Premier League.

didn't he have a decent run of games last year when someone got injured? and he didn't impress... i'd rather get some money for him then let him rot on the bench, but as long as he's off the field i'm happy...

He's a marginal Premier League quality player, at best. Never understood the initial interest and completely puzzled why we took him on loan (and are now stuck with him as part of the loan arrangement). I feel certain he won't be with us next season. Hopefully, he'll do something this season to change my mind.

Didn't we pay like £3 million for him as part of the deal! I remember, it was a ridiculous amount! I prefer Baird to Greening, when someone has to fill in for Murphy or Etuhu. Baird is way underrated, while Greening is the opposite...
Zimmer2002
I'm not Baird's biggest fan, but he is a decent defensive midfielder; whereas Greening is not a good defender and not a good distributor, so I agree Zimmer. I'd take Baird over Greening any day of the week (and twice on Sunday)!
Teddy_KGB
I'm always scared when he comes on for Murphy. Neither a clever playmaker nor hard working defender, so every time i'm just like: 'why him, ffs?!'
