Fulham - McBride Calls it a Day!

News has filtered through that a great former Fulham favourite is calling it a day at the end of this season.

At the age of 38 Brian McBride has decided enough is enough and will be retiring at the end of the MLS season.

After becoming a Fulham legend McBride took the opportunity to return to his homeland to see out the remainder of his career and has been plying his trade with Chicago Fire, in his home city.

Speaking about his impending retirement, Chicago Fire`s owner, Andrew Hauptman has commented on the clubs official site;

Former Fulham and United States forward Brian McBride will retire at the end of the season.

'Brian's retirement is a bittersweet moment for the Fire, Major League Soccer and soccer fans around the world. His talent and contributions to US soccer in particular are incredibly vast and he will most deservedly be celebrated as one of soccer's greatest.''

"Brian is a consummate professional on and off the field and has tremendous passion and heart. I have great respect for him and his decision to retire, which no doubt was not an easy one. He will always have a home here at the Chicago Fire and be part of the Fire family.''

Sounds just like the McBride we remember does it not?
