'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fulham - Schwarzer Revelations!

It`s now highly unlikely that Mark Schwarzer will get the opportunity to play for Arsenal and the chance to play in the Champions League, something he craved for before the transfer window slammed shut.

We`ll never know how close the deal actually came to being concluded. It could have been really close or it could have been a non-starter for many a week.

However, the Daily Mirror offers the suggestion that the deal eventually stalled because Fulham were unable to recruit a replacement.

With Shay Given stating his intent by staying with the Republic of Ireland squad instead of flying here and there trying to locate a decent enough club to lure him away from Manchester City with the enticement of regular first team football, the tabloid reckons Mark Hughes turned his attention to two other keepers.

The two in question were Julian Speroni, of Crystal Palace fame, and Alexander Doni, of AS Roma fame. Unfortunately, neither deal could be done in time, thereby depriving Mark of his chance to join Arsenal.

Well that`s what the tabloid says we`d prefer to think that our favourite Aussie had a change of heart and decided to stay with us loveable lot!

it is a bit scary, i agree teddy... is stockdale ok? will schwarzer play if stockdale is hurt? i hope the late appointment of hughes and a lack of a replacement doesn't lead to unwanted drama...

This is arsenals fault....to come back and make a silly repeat bid and make overtures to mark to turn his head! I dont think arsenal thought much of him beacause if they did they would have come in with the right price, which, to my belief was not a massive amount. Just a fair price for a great keeper!!! Mark S I hope you realise that fulham value you more than arsenal!!!
Leonestar
I'm sure Mark is enough of a professional to keep up the quality performances, but I can't say I'm happy to be keeping a player who clearly doesn't want to be at the club.

mark wont want to let himself or the team down or even any further prospects
