Fulham - Hughes Has His Say on Carling Cup Win!

I always find it pleasing when a club treats the Carling Cup with respect!

With only three domestic competitions to play in it seems madness for a club, of our stature, to treat one with contempt.

Therefore it was pleasing to see that Mark Hughes chose as near to a full starting eleven as he could, with the only exception being the resting Paul Konchesky (Liverpool bound?) and giving young Matt Briggs a chance to show what he could do.

After the empathic 6-0 win, Mark had this to say about a decent nights work,

"I thought it was a great performance, outstanding goals, great finishes and progressive play."

"Six goals just seems to be the common thing at the moment I don`t know why. But in fairness to Port Vale they tried to play. We just had too much quality for them so it was always going to be difficult."

"I didn`t want to make too many changes - it`s not the time of the year to rest players."

Now whether that last line is 100% true or whether Mark has decided that the Carling Cup is one trophy we can realistically target, I`ll leave you to muse over!

I won't read too much into the win. 6-0 is great under any circumstances, but it's what you'd expect from a full-blooded, first team Premier League side. Still, we've struggled with these types in the past, so I'm hoping we're seeing a new era of professionalism under Hughes. Same result against Blackpool, please!

GREAT RESULT!!! Hope for the rest of the season the team can have the same spirit of play every week. And no injuries to the players.... not a bad one if there's going to be injuries though. It is really too bad I can not watch it. Tried to find the online live streaming but no site were broadcasting it. D*MN!! Guess I'll just be watching the goals replay then on the web.

Even in the highlights you can see just how good we were ameri. I know it's lower class opposition but I've never seen such fluent football at the Cottage. It makes you realise just how cagey Roy was...
