Fulham - Schwarzer Saga Nearing an End?

Amid all the match hype following Sunday's impressive home draw with Manchester United, the press still found time to write about ongoing events which surround Aussie 'keeper Mark Schwarzer.

Again, the Goalie was left out of the Fulham side with a supposed back injury, which only fueled more speculation of his supposed move to Arsenal.

With Sunday now finished and Monday upon us though, a whole host of contradicting rumours are hitting the mill.

First, and perhaps most far-fetched, is that the Shot-Stopper has already failed a medical at The Emirates, which makes it all the more likely that a fee has been agreed and that Mark had come to sound decision regarding wages at the North London Club.

However, another media outlet is suggesting that the process hasn't made it that far by a long stretch, with Arsene Wenger about to swallow his pride and double his bid from £2 million to £4 million.

If that's the case, then expect Schwarzer to be out by the weekend.

On the other hand though, our very own manager offers a glimmer of hope by stating that the number one's transfer is by no means complete.

'It's not a foregone conclusion that Mark will leave,' said Hughes.

'We're all aware of Arsenal's interest. It's not a surprise because he's an outstanding goalkeeper and they obviously feel they have an issue with their own goalkeeper.'

Take what you will from all sides of the rumour mill, but, it does seem pretty inevitable now that we will be searching for a new Goalkeeper come next week.

I have nothing but repect for the bloke, and all that he has done for us.I would be very sorry to see him go, but I think that we will continue to prosper regardless.

Completely agree tonesw6. Hopefully DS will get some first team action over the season, depending upon what happens over these last few days before the transfer window closes.
