At yesterdays` news conference, Mohammed Al Fayed was his usual jovial self but behind the smiles we got the feeling that Mr Al Fayed was a little miffed that Roy Hodgson chose to take the Liverpool job.
Talking about Roy Hodgson, Mr Al Fayed had this to say,
"Roy disappointed the fans and the players."
"I`m sure he`ll take Liverpool downhill. He was just a bugger. I did everything to help him. But that`s his character, he can`t help it."
"After we put him where he is now, he took advantage but good luck to him."
"We gave him all the support, we believed in him and he let us down. I forgive him anyhow."
You can`t help but chuckle and we`d surmise that Roy`s name wasn`t exactly greeted with a smile in the immediate days after he had jumped ship.
But talking about Mark Hughes, Mr Al Fayed had this to say,
"Mark`s much better than the previous one. He know`s what he`s doing."
"We have a nice guy now. Don`t mention Roy Hodgson any more."
"Fulham`s a wonderful club and I`m sure Mark will do a great job."
"The players will like him - he`s going to win us the championship."
Now let`s get this right, we are talking about the championship of the league we`re in now as opposed to the Championship we never want to return to are we not?
