Fulham - Davies on Hughes!

Perched in the Fratton Park stands, Mark Hughes had his first view of his new charges as Fulham slipped to a defeat against relegated Portsmouth.

The game ended 1-0 with Marc Wilson stooping to head home a corner from Matt Ritchie and will be best remembered for Bobby Zamora showing a little rustiness in front of goal.

Naturally, afterwards, the attention was on Hughes, the new man in the hot-seat, however, one of our key players, Simon Davies, has experience of working with Hughes from his Wales managerial role.

Speaking about the new man, Simon had this to say,

"We met him today and on Monday he will start training and he will work on his ideas in the coming week."

"It will be difficult to emulate Roy (Hodgson) but I`m sure Mark will not look at it like that."

"It`s a new start for everyone. With a few additions I hope it will be exciting times."

Looking at how Mark Hughes steered Blackburn to the UEFA Cup, they could well indeed be exciting times.
