'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fulham - A Disappointed Jol!

I guess it was one of those things that were destined never to happen.

Circumstances contrived to deprive us of the chance to replace Roy Hodgson with a manager who might well have taken us onto another level.

Martin Jol will be staying at Ajax and not coming to Craven Cottage, a move that has left the Dutchman saddened, prompting him to remark to Sky Sports News,

'It was unbelievable.'

'I like Fulham, I like England, I like London."

'So I was probably a bit disappointed I had to say no, because the board don't want to let me go under any circumstances.'

'He (Mackintosh) was offering a good job at a good club with good players - good honest players.'

'I was willing to go there but as I said, I'm under contract. We spoke about it and not just for five minutes, for hours.'

'I had to tell them (Fulham) I had to stay. All the problems, going to court, I didn't want that, because Ajax is too big to be put through that misery.'

I can`t help pondering over what might have been, can you?

I think it would have been a good move for him and us if what he is saying is true, but forgive me for being a bit cynical, but was all this just about him getting more transfer money from ajax :-(
