Fulham - Konchesky Staying!

After being linked with Birmingham City all summer could the Midlands club have been wasting their time?

Paul Konchesky a more than capable left back, was targeted by Alex McLeish as a player that could improve his Birmingham City side.

Initially, the vibes fed us by the newshounds implied that it was a move that could happen.

Now, the vibes have turned fill circle with Konchesky set to turn down a move and opt to stay at Fulham.

A piece of decent news we`d say!

A move from Fulham to Birmingham is a set up. Birmingham are a much, much bigger club in terms of finance, fan base, player quality and infrastructure. Not the point though. Interesting that you've wrote this article and then Koncheskey has just reiterated his desire to leave Fulham? He's not signing a new contract only reason he's not left is because Hodgson's moving to Liverpool.

Step up or step down will be determined by next seasons results. Regardless, I'd be perfectly content seeing Konchesky heading to Birmingham. Sell him now rather than letting him leave on a free transfer next summer.

I would say it is neither a step in the right or wrong direction for him. In recent terms, we have been more successful than Birmingham without a doubt, and Al Fayed certainly has the funding to make us a bigger and better club. That's off the point though, and, I wouldn't mind if Koncheskey leaves to be perfectly honest; I agree with Teddy 100%. He's a good player, but he can be clumsy sometimes and based on media reports, his heart isn't in it.
KBFulham
I struggle to see how you can say that you've been more successful than Birmingham in recent times? Al Fayed has money? We have different media reports as well because Andy Walker in the Sunday Mercury writes: 'Konchesky remains the top left-back target for Birmingham City. Uncertainty over Fulham boss Roy Hodgson’s future, holding up any move for the former England international. Konchesky is said to be keen on coming to St Andrew’s.'
Mark Thomas
I'm not doubting his keenness to join Birmingham, but I am doubting that it is a step up. Let's not forget we have just come off the back of a fantastic Europa League run, and with or without Hodgson, we are a very stable Premier League club. While Birmingham are stable, over the past 5 or so years your club has undergone a host of relegations and promotions between the Premier League and the Championship. While you could argue, perhaps, that it's not a step down, I think it's difficult to say it's a step up. And yes, Mo does have money; he sold Harrods.

True KB Fulham a an established premier leauge club 10 years next year birmingham up and down like a yoyo no disrespect to them but they are on the same level as us 50 50 on who will finish better next year but we all know who the top 4 or five will be only question mark will be liverpool up or down the table after all great clubs do fall
truth sayer ffc
another question will birmingham cope with the europa leauge and the priemer leauge time will tell

Birmingham didn't qualify for the Europa league I don't think truth. Its down to the managers at the moment. McLeish is a good manager, and last season he had more money to spend than Hodgson, but this season might be a bit different by the names that have been thrown about with Fulham.
Riverside Chanter
i'd agree with everything here... i don't want to say it's a step down, because birmingham looked very good last season, but i'd love to see them do it consistently in years to come... we've stayed up, yes by the skin of our teeth, but we stayed up... do we have the stadium size of birmingham? no. and that's something i'm jealous of. all we can offer free agents is the city, the manager (if he stays) and that we play good football... did you finish above us in the table, yes. do you play in europe at all, nevermind a final, no. did you finish above us last season, no. is your manager better, i'd say even steven. i think it'd be a lateral move, depending on how the future of each club works out...

yes wood look at jim ????????? went to hull for bigger and better things a club on the up and up sometimes you just have to laugh ha ha ha
