Fulham - Etuhu Looks on the Bright Side!

But for a glaring miss, Nigeria could also be in the last sixteen alongside fellow Africans, Ghana.

But it was not to be for Dickson Etuhu and his team-mates. As mentioned yesterday, when the Everton striker, Yakubu, put his shot agonizingly wide their dreams took a massive dent.

But, in the aftermath of their exit, Dickson Etuhu has nothing but praise for Yakubu and is quoted as remarking in the media today, following Nigeria`s exit,

"He is a great player."

What`s niggling away at me though is whether Dickson was just being polite or really does believe that great players are occasionally liable to produce what could easily be considered the miss of the tournament so far!

Yakubu has really struggled to recover from that Achilles injury. Other than a few bundled home goals, he didn't do much in the PL last season. I think he may have turned the corner, though. He looked better at the World Cup (the awful miss aside). Bodes well for Everton, I think.
