Fulham - Keeping Hodgson?

Once again the newspapers are full of speculation that Liverpool are keen to lure Roy Hodgson away from Fulham Football Club.

Depending upon which one you choose to read depends on which way you think the outcome of this struggle might well end.

One leading tabloid suggests that despite Kenny Dalglish wanting to give the job a go Roy Hodgson remains favourite for the post.

Another though has Fulham, courtesy of Mr Al Fayed, fighting to keep Roy.

It suggests that Al Fayed, who recently sold his Harrods empire, is willing to plough some of the money into Fulham and is also willing to double Roy`s salary from the current £1 million a year to £2 million.

The same paper has even dug out some quotes from a Fulham source that imply that the Liverpool job might not be enticing as the media will have you believe,

"Leaving Fulham to take over at England would be seen as the pinnacle of Roy`s career."

"And everyone thinks that`s what he would love to do."

"He could miss out on that if he gets tempted by Liverpool and then the England job comes up not long after."

"There`s also the question of Liverpool being up for sale at the moment. Roy could go there under the current owners, new men come in and the job could end up being very short term."

Now I could cope with losing Roy to England but to Liverpool - NO!

Agreed, but if Capello is serious about remaining long-term, the England job may not be an option. As much as I don't want to lose Roy, I don't want to see him blocked from accepting the position if he really wants it. I don't think a discontented manager does anyone any good.

You are all talking like he wants to go. With the moves that he seems to be making in the transfer market I will be surprised if he goes to liverpool.Right now I have a hunch that he will fancy you ending up above them next season.

2 mill a year and cash to buy players should keep roy happy after all at fulham roy is king why should he go some where els and be a prince me thinks and if al fayed backs him with the cash we can expect great things to come

i agree with that... there are some signs floating in the air that makes it seem like al fayed wants to ramp up the notorioty of the club... let's hope that all works in our favor and (sir) roy stays at fulham...
