'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fulham - A Weakened team at Arsenal!

With the Europa League Final fast approaching on the horizon, the media suspect that (Sir) Roy Hodgson will use the final Premier League fixture of the season to rest key players.

Having already escaped a rollicking from the authorities for doing such a thing against Hull City there are fears that Fulham could well upset North London rivals, Spurs, by doing so.

Spurs could still, mathematically, finish third but are reliant on Fulham taking maximum points off Arsenal, which considering our season long away form is highly unlikely.

Nevertheless, Roy has intimated that he`s not about to give in to demand and will do what he feels is best for his squad ahead of the date in Hamburg and is quoted as saying in the media about the matter,

"We`ll see how the players are on Friday and make a decision with regards to Arsenal."

"The priority is the Cup Final. If anyone in the sports science department deems they need a rest, we`ll rest them."

Too damn right we will, we`ve bigger fish to fry than a game against Arsenal which, for us, is almost meaningless.

oh come on fellas. i know zamora is hurting and I'm not saying use him, but please don't put an academy squad out there. arse are also gonna put a relatively academy squad so if you put out a descent squad they are your for the taking. Wouldn't you like for them to play qualifications and lose them....

I think most of the fans on Vital Spurs expect us to field a weakened side, and for the most part, they understand why. I know they would love to get 3rd, but they're all so excited to get 4th that I don't think they'll be too disappointed.

for what it's worth, our "weakened" side lost to everton in the last minute on a dubios throw in call and penalty kick, beat west ham, and have more or less held a good account of themselves... there's no reason to play an academy side... our second squad should do fine... i wonder if spurs will have the lasagna saturday night...

It's pretty understandable as to why we would do this. To be perfectly honest, I think our 2nd string team would have far more to play for than our normal first team: a place in the final starting 11! Fingers crossed some youngsters get a chance on the big stage too.
