Fulham - A Late Chance For Someone?

Now we might jibe that the Europa League Final has given the fringe players a chance to get a run out but there is another way of looking at it.

With two Premier League games to go, the squad rotation that (Sir) Roy is deploying, gives someone the perfect opportunity to stake a late claim for a place in the starting eleven in the Nordbank Arena.

It`s a point that Mark Schwarzer illustrates perfectly in an interview given to the media ahead of the Stoke City game on Wednesday evening,

"There`s always been competition for places and the manager knows he`s got a selection headache."

"It`s a fantastic position to be in when you`ve got probably 16-17-18 players to choose from."

"And everyone is putting huge pressure on everyone. That`s also been the reason why we`ve gone on to the heights we have this season, and that`s why we`re still pushing."

In your opinion, is there someone on the fringe of things that could make a late push for a starting place in Hamburg?

In a word, no, but it gives a chance to Dikgacoi, Riise and Elm to show us how they have come along adapting to the English game. So far I don't have to much hope for Elm as he seems a bit too easy to push off the ball, but Riise's speed would be useful in the last 20 mins of a game. Not really sure what Dikgacoi will be used for, either a holding midfileder like Etuhu or a play maker like Murphy.

unfortunately i haven't been able to see the last few games so i don't know who's in form at the moment... but i tend to agree with riverside, that no one will break into the starting eleven, but they might move themselves up in the pecking order when it comes to coming on as a sub...

No chance. I think if you asked this question at the beginning of the season, the only difference would be most would have Gera on the bench and Dempsey starting. Gera is still just adequate in League play, but he's been invaluable in the EL. He's earned his spot, and that's allowed Roy to keep Dempsey on the bench in the event we need something in the last 20 minutes. It's worked beautifully.

have we been rippe dof for Smalling chaps?
Red Boy
in a word - probably! as for the question - Roy knows his starting eleven already!
Al Billy
i think you've got that spot on mate!

cant see smallings cutting it at united. Definately a championship player, will struggle to be a prem starter, especially at united. I can see him being loaned out over the next couple of years. Big gamble by sir alex.
Leonestar
i guess that's why we sold him, ay?
