Fulham - The Quiet Heroes

I know the old cliche is to say that all eleven were heroes but for me, the performances of two men really stood out.

They may not be the most well known players, they may not be the most well celebrated nor do they ever receive numerous column inches for their pivotal roles. The two players who really impressed me last night were Aaron Hughes and Dickson Etuhu.

Now, we all know Aaron Hughes is probably the most reliable defender in the League. I have never seen him make a major error. He was in the right place to block and intercept the ball at vital moments and most importantly kept Van Nistelrooy at bay.

Dickson Etuhu had his best ever game for the club. He was outstanding. Tenacious in midfield, very clever with possession and fantastic in the tackle. He seemed up for it and really caught my attention.

They won't get the headlines in the papers, but their contribution was crucially important.

Sincere congrats Fulham from an LFC fan. Given the fact you have been in the competition from the outset and taking into account the calibre of teams you have beaten along the way, you absolutely deserve to win this. Enjoy Hamburg!

totally agree alex... hughes was the man of the match... and etuhu was integral in the middle... danny had his flashes, but he's getting old i guess... he wasn't in the game the whole game...
