Fulham - What If - Andrew Johnson!

Fulham - What If - Andrew Johnson!

There`s absolutely no doubt that the star of our season, so far has been Bobby Zamora.

Bobby has exceeded all expectations this season and his goal scoring exploits have catapulted him to national prominence with an ever-growing fan club increasingly calling for him to be given his chance at international level, possibly with a view to gate-crashing the England 2010 World Cup squad.

But, discussing all things football, down the public house the other night, we got pondering!

This season, whilst being an exceptional one for Bobby Zamora, has been a relatively poor one for Andrew Johnson.

It`s been a season where our record signing has spent much of the season on the treatment table nursing injury after injury and probably cursing his luck that he`s missed out on most of our thrilling Europa League campaign.

Now, we couldn`t come to an agreement and we`d like your opinion on this one.

The big debating point we got stuck on relates to whether Bobby would have enjoyed quite such a remarkable season if Andrew Johnson had off been fit, would the presence of Johnson have changed Bobby`s role in the team thereby reducing his goals tally?

Or would the presence of two big-guns have opened up defences for the duo to plunder further?

Your thoughts would be appreciated!

Zamora wouldn't have been the focal point, so I think it would've hurt his productivity. Frankly, I think we played fine without AJ. I'm not a big fan. I thought we paid too much for him, at the time, and nothing he's done has convinced me otherwise. We're basically stuck with him as we'll never recoup our initial investment. Make the best of things, but not at the detriment to Zamora's form.

BZ has surprised a heck of a lot of neutrals this season. He has scored regularly and not all tap ins either. Hope he keeps doing it for you.

I agree Bobby's form has been a nice surprise. AJ has been out, true and really he is going nowhere but I really feel he will be up for the cause next season and I think having him back will balance the team, especially as our away form is so poor. When we are away from home, teams come at as more, naturally. With have either zoltan or dempsey supporting bobby we tend to end up with 5 in midfield and thus leave bobby alone. With aj a more conventional 4-4-2 has served us well. Look at last year. I really feel Bobby can inspire aj next year and also bang in a FEW!!!

for whatever reason, i think aj will come back next season and have a really good year... i think forcing bobby to take the entire workload this season really made him mature as a player and develop the finishing aspect of his game, so i think that we have relied too much on aj if he was fit... but i think coming back next season, bobby has already established himself, and won't have to submit to aj as the top dog in the forward line... they can work together to make a truelly compelling strike force...
