Fulham - Davies and a New Contract?

Fulham - Davies and a New Contract?

In a way it`s been a mixed season for our Welsh international Simon Davies.

Last season finished with Simon struggling with a foot injury and it proved to be a foot injury that ate into this season. A couple of other niggling injuries also saw his return to, regular first team action interrupted.

But, in recent weeks, Simon has got back into the starting eleven and can now look forward to a thrilling finale to the season which could see us reach unprecedented, for us, heights in Europe.

Unfortunately, it appears that Simon`s future is yet to be sorted. His contract expires this summer and we understand there has been no offer made regarding a new one.

Now, for all we know, there may be things going on behind the scenes that we`re not party two, however, it doesn`t stop me asking the Vital Fulham membership, a crucial question.

Should the versatile Simon Davies, at 30, be given a new contract or is it time for a parting of the ways?

Your views would be most appreciated.

A years contract is appropriate at his age, But I would definitely like to keep hold of Simon, he is quality and as you so rightly pointed out, versatile.

I agree with Deuce. He's been a good player for Fulham and I believe in loyalty, but we do have to plan for the future and make room for some younger players. I say sign him to a one year deal and re-evaluate at the end of next season.

well, i'm of the opinion to let him go... he has looked off the pace pretty consistently to me, but then maybe i'm watching with a biased eye... he may be good cover, but we have riise in the wings waiting to get more games... i think he's not up to our standard, and we should pay him for what he can do and not what he has done for the club... and with pantsil coming back into the fold, we don't really need him to play the emergency right back anymore...

Two seasons ago was he not our player of the year. He has been very loyal and committed even in those relegation fighting seasons....I really feel hes still has alot to contribute. I think a rolling years contract is ok but I think he deserves more due to his consistency when he is playing....always gives 110 percent. I hope he stays at least another year, but......in roy we trust!!!

We'd be absolutely mad to let him go. In our relegation year he was the man in the Sanchez headless chickens (assisted by Dempsey) who seemed to have any idea how to create chances. He was definitely our player of the year. He is proven Premiership quality apart from the end of last season and this season the bloke's fitness levels have been superb. I've noticed through the years of watching him that Davies always sees more of the ball and makes more of an impact the longer the game goes on, as players around him tire Simon keeps going at the same level as he started the game. Also anyone remember the interview he gave when we looked dead in the water and heading to the Championship? He came right out and said he was going nowhere and if we went down he would owe it to the club and fans to fight for promotion back up into the Premier League. We'd be totally bonkers to let him go.
