'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fulham - Thursdays Are My Favourite Day

I'm not going to lie; I had my doubts. After defeating both Shakhtar, the previous winners, and Juventus, a huge European super-power, I thought we may well come unstuck against a side that could easily be under-estimated in comparison.

Don't get me wrong; I told everyone I knew that we would win, but I didn't quite believe it deep down. 1 minute in though, and I guess things changed slightly.

It sounds soggy and it sounds corny and it sounds clichéd, but it all came down to belief on the night for me. Yes, tactically we were superior, but, we seemed far more up for the game, whilst our German opposition produced a lackluster and, to an extent, effortless display in front of their own fans.

That shouldn't, however, take away from the performance our very own 11 men put out last night. They stuck to the game plan and they did Roy proud in the end, and it is wonderful on the ear to hear pundits and commentators alike offering Fulham Football Club never ending praise, for our humble nature, quiet demeanor, traditional values and most importantly; attractive football.

As bias as my viewpoint may well be on the matter, it is about time we got that praise too. Who knows, before long, we could be the football team that attracts the glory hunters!

and it's praise that we very much deserve... we play the "right" way, and we've taken down some of the greater clubs of europe...

I know exactly what you mean, even with the 1 goal lead, before the game deep down I had my doubts that we would come away from Wolfsburg still in the competition. But 21 seconds in all the old belief came back and the missus caught me dancing around the lounge like a loon lol. Yet again the boys put in a performance that would once again show the whole world what a good footballing side Roy has put together at Fulham and Chris Coleman’s comment about Wolfsburg bring on all their subs and not taking any body off and still not scoring had me in stitches. Thank you Roy for yet another European night to remember, bring on Hamburg , we are the mighty Fulham.

This is what I was saying a couple of topics ago, it's not about adapting how we play to suit other teams, it's sticking with our principles and footballing values- winning the Fulham way- let them deal with us

What goes around, comes around.....pure example if ever. Roy set out his mission statement and tactical approach ever since he joined, and thus WE PLAY FOOTBALL.....but do so believing in what we do. So often over the past 2 seasons I have seen games like pompey in may 2008. The belief in self and in the players around.
