'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fulham - Tomorrow Looms Large

I woke up this morning with the sorest of foreheads and the achiest of bones, and, in all honesty, little knowledge in the exact day of the week.

Upon prizing open my laptop though, it became apparent it's the 7th of April, which, I'm confident in saying is a Wednesday. One day before we face Wolfsburg in one of the biggest matches in this clubs fine, if not in-consistent, history.

It feels rather peculiar, following our infamous 4-1 victory over Italian giants Juventus, to even comprehend the idea that a bigger and better game could unfold tomorrow in Germany, yet, given a good performance and a good result, Fulham fans around the World may well scream that little bit louder and with a little more pride tomorrow evening than they did around 3 weeks previously.

Given the 'Fulhamish' nature of our club, the sheer thought that a Thursday night would offer my team a European quarter-final tie would have seemed ludicrous only a matter of years ago.

On the last day of the 2008 season, even after securing that oh-so-important extra year in the Premiership, anyone that had even mentioned European football would have been laughed off the terraces and maybe punched in the face for good measure.

Now though, I sit here queerly grinning at the prospect of defying the critics one more time and silencing the doubters yet again. Fulham Football Club have finally become a force to be reckoned with.

And reckon, Wolfsburg will. Come on You Whites!

hear, here, KB! it always seems odd to me that in a two leg affair, an away goal leads the pundits to think that the advantage lies with the loser of the first match... didn't we just prove that we can beat them? didn't we just prove that we can score on them? with one well taken shot, we can erase an away goal advantage, and make it that much tougher for wolfsburg to progress... here's to an away goal from bobby or duff or hangeland even, and our progression to the semi-finals!

Wolfsburg are hot and cold, so I really don't know what to expect. However, in recent weeks, I've come to believe that Fulham will win every time they take the field (with a few exceptions, of course), which is completely odd as I normally assume the worst. Positive expectations are strange when it comes to supporting Fulham (but, I'm getting use to it).

As this tie draws closer, I'm getting increasingly nervous, perhaps it was watching Arsenal get battered last night despite taking a lead...
