Fulham - Hodgson Sums Up the Tie!

The eighty ninth minute goal certainly quietened down a home crowd who were ecstatic at the two goal lead but it also set up the second leg of this tie nicely.

Both sides will go at it hammer and tongs knowing that either of them could secure a semi-final place and be one step away from the final in Hamburg.

After the game, (Sir) Roy Hodgson spoke briefly about that late goal and whether Fulham are favourites to go through, commenting,

"The late goal put a slight dampener on the performance. But it shouldn`t really because if you had offered me a victory before the game, I`d have accepted any score."

"I don`t know if we are favourites to go through now. But we go there with the lead and we showed them we can cause problems."

My only qualm with the goal is that it more or less forces us to strike in Wolfsburg to cancel out the away goal element, but like we`ve already seen in this competition, anything is possible.

we took this score line to the ukraine and come out on top against the holders, so i'm confident that we can do it again... wolfsburg are not the stingiest of opponents, and will offer us the opportunity to score away i think...
