Fulham - The Facts

Fulham - The Facts

In light of the supposed quote from a West Ham source indicating their intent to lodge a complaint with the Premier League, I decided to look a little further into this and, to be honest, it all makes their case seem less than watertight despite the simple fact that five regulars not appearing does not sound too good on our part.

Firstly, those changes in personnel, let's look at those:

- Chris Smalling in at Centre Half. This is the same Chris Smalling who is moving to Old Trafford in the Summer for a reported fee in the region from £8 to £12 million.

- Nicky Shorey to Right Back. Probably the one baffling move seeing as he is left footed, but let's not forget, this is the same Nicky Shorey who has two England caps.

-Bjorn Helge Riise. A Norwegian international and a player who has looked decent in his few outings, in addition to this he did cost the club more than £2 million to sign.

- The return of Clint Dempsey to the starting XI. Arguably, one of our most important players and one of the most talented at the club.

- Kagisho Dikgacoi. Returning from injury and prior to that was beginning to look like a decent player...oh, and he is a certainty to play in the World Cup.

Then let's look at the statistics from the game, taken from BBC Sport.

We had: the majority of the possession, 53% to Hull's 47%, 6 more shots on target and 2 more corners. Throw in the fact that Zoltan Gera had two chances cleared off the line and then it is beginning to look like a highly unlucky 2-0 defeat.

Enough said!
