Fulham - Hodgson on Knockout Blow!

There`s a warm glow over our part of West London this morning!

Circumstances have contrived, this week, whereby we remain the last representatives of this part of our fine city, left in Europe.

Who`d have put any money on that back in August!

Nevertheless, last night remains one of those nights that we`ll enjoy talking about for many a year to come, a night where the underdog not only had the cheek to thump the heavyweight on the chin but put him flat on his back for a knockout count.

In his after-match press interview, (Sir) Roy Hodgson continued on a boxing theme commenting,

"We should do a Rocky Marciano and retire whilst the going is good it doesn`t get any better than this."

A lovely sentiment! However, now we`re in the last four we have an obligation to push on and there`s no telling how much progress we can make, a fact (Sir) Roy touché don when he discussed the performance his players produced last night,

"My players constantly surprise me, a fantastic team performance. I can never recall a performance like that"

"People say they had players missing, but you look on the bench and they had Del Piero, Iaquinta and Poulsen."

Perhaps we should remind them that we too had influential players missing in Andrew Johnson and John Pantsil to name but two.

But as the clock struck midnight and many a happy Fulham head hit the pillow, you have to ask yourself one simple question, a question prompted by a remark from (Sir) Roy,

"If that`s not the greatest night in Fulham`s history, it must come close. The atmosphere was electric and it was a great game of football."

"The crowd was fantastic and many will remember this for years to come."

All we can do now is wait for the DVD to come out and then we can all relive it over and over again!
