Fulham - Juventus Vibe (4) - Making History!

Fulham - Juventus Vibe (4) - Making History!

How many of us, when we were stumbling through the group stages, would have believed that we`d get this far in the Europa League?

The competition, it`s fair to say, is a slow burning one, a competition that takes so long to really get going it`s hard to capture the imagination of the public.

But it certainly has now and our elimination of Shakhtar Donetsk the winners of the now defunct UEFA Cup last year, has brought our name to the forefront whenever the Europa League is talked about.

Are we really in the last sixteen is something I ask myself?

Well we are and there`s no reason why, with two solid performances, we can`t make the last eight of the competition and continue to carve out our own little niche in the history books.

With the kick-off fast approaching, Roy Hodgson has spoken about the outstanding progress the club has made since his arrival, remarking,

"I think given our position when I came to the club at the end of 2007, one could say what we have done is beyond our dreams."

"We are making history as we go along."

"It will be nice some time in the future if the club can improve on what this group of players has done but we are setting quite a high standard."

Now that is the interesting part!

Are the ambitions of the club sufficient to push onwards and upwards or are we scrapping at a level that is realistically as high as we`re ever going to achieve?

Your views would be appreciated!

Any given year with the right amount of coaching, talent and luck, any team can push for a top five spot, but I think we'll likely set our ambitions to finishing 7th - 14th position in the League, and that's fine with me.
