Fulham - First Juventus Vibes!

The build up has started for the Europa League clash with Juventus.

The first leg, away from home in Turin, is scheduled for Thursday evening. But whilst I mentioned that the build up has started, the media seems to be holding back on any decent quotes relating to the game.

Is this because of the minor importance of the competition or are the tabloids going to be awash with articles tomorrow?

That great question remains unanswered.

But, with their fine European tradition, the tie represents a bench mark in our history and digging deep into the tabloid trash I have actually unearthed a quote that shows that our striding progress has reached Italy with the much revered Juventus star, Diego, remarking,

"They are no Manchester United but English clubs aren`t easy to beat."

Indeed, we may not be Manchester United but under-estimate at your peril. We may be missing our inspirational captain, Danny Murphy, through suspension, but we`ll be hard to break down, we`ll be resilient and we might just surprise the opposition on the break.

Thursday night could be a history making night and we could be saluting another remarkable achievement from Roy Hodgson and his merry band of men, personally, I can`t wait!

here's hoping for an away goal...

Juventus has not been the same team since their demotion to Serie B for match fixing. This season, in particular, they’re struggling mightily to even qualify for Champions League football, which in years past was basically a foregone conclusion. They're playing a little better of late, but are hardly the team they were, even last season. One has to wonder how seriously the Old Lady will take the second-tier European competition with Champions League qualification being a real doubt. An away goal is a real possibility. An outright victory is not out of the question.

still fifth in Serie A, they're no mugs believe me!

I know they're good, but something tells me that they're not taking us seriously. They have a lot of defensive issues this term, so even if we don't get a victory or even a draw, I think we can get a goal. If we go back to Craven Cottage down 2-1, I like our chances to progress. Murphy's absence and tired legs may make it difficult, though.

why not put chris baird back to mid field wit etu give him the murphy role if konch is fit

i don't think etuhu is all that creative... maybe he is... but i would think he would take over the middle when greening sits so far deep and pass back, and something sideways...
