The End of 'Fulhamish'?

The End of 'Fulhamish'?

Whilst it's a physical impossibility to find the word in any official or well celebrated dictionaries of the world, 'Fulhamish' has been on the lips of so many Fulham fans for so many years.

The ability to mock ones own and to find humour in shameful circumstances is the definition I would bring forth for the above phrase, but, it is safe to say it has seen a decline in usage over the months and the term is border lining extinction. Or, at a minimum, a re-think of the meaning behind it is in order.

Why so? Because we are a club on the up, and, I'm not in the slightest bit afraid to say it.

The FA Cup quarters beckon whilst a mere 'decent' result in Shakhtar will see us defy the critics once more and progress in Europe to the last 16.

Compare the heights we are achieving now to the dismal defeat to Torquay in January of 1996; surely, one of the blackest days in our long and elaborate history. We truly are flying high.

And it was Roy Hodgson's recent comments to Sky Sports news that truly buoyed my ever growing spirits. The man has always been cool, calm and collective when it comes to Fulham. He never once wanted to raise expectations or to heighten the stakes in any way.

That's what made his recent remarks truly ground breaking in my eyes. Whilst they weren't amazingly open, it was the subtle message behind his speech that made me think he truly does believe this club can surpass all hopes.

His quiet and reserved attitude towards Fulham FC's future seems to have altered in the past week, and only for the better.

So, is anyone up for re-defining 'Fulhamish' as; 'The ability to defy the inevitable and to succeed against all odds in the most traditional and heart-warming fashion'?

Tempting fate, I say. Start every season with abject pessimism and you'll never be disappointed!

Great definition. Definitely worth writing to the Oxford dictionary lot with that one.
