We cling on to the hope that Fabio Capello was not one of those who left Craven Cottage early yesterday!
If he did so he`d have missed the defining moment of the match, the splendid free kick from Bobby Zamora that settled the fixture in our favour.
Finally, that awkward celebration Bobby persisted with has gone and he now seems perfectly at ease with the Craven Cottage faithful who sent out a rousing chorus of Bobby for England.
It was a fact that Roy Hodgson picked up on in his post match interview, with Roy adding his name to the growing list calling for England recognition for our fifteen goal striker, with him remarking,
"I know the fans` were chanting Bob`s name for England and that`s quite right, that`s how it should be."
"It`s about confidence. Last year he did all the things we wanted him to do but wasn`t lucky in front of goal."
"This year he`s added the goal to his good play which is fortunate because the man who was getting the goals, Andy Johnson, hasn`t been available."
Whether Bobby`s name will appear in the squad named for the England squad or not remains the unanswered question.
But, I would like to finish this piece by mentioning that one particular hack, in a tabloid this morning, has described Bobby as a one season wonder and compared him with the likes of James Beattie and Marcus Stewart, which just goes to prove that those who wield the pen don`t have an in-depth knowledge of those they pen about.
"Bobby for England" is fine by us!![]()
