'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fulham - Davies is Back with a Bang!

It`s been a wretched season for our Welsh international, Simon Davies!

Having missed the toe-end of last season, with injury, his fitness hasn`t been what it could have been this term.

A failure of that foot injury coupled with some fresh injuries have meant that starts have been at a premium for the versatile midfielder, however, on Sunday, he looked to be approaching his best again and his performance was topped off by a goal.

A fully fit Simon Davies is a bonus for Fulham as he gives us several options with regarding tactics and with the fixtures set to come thick and fast in the coming weeks as Fulham participate compete on three fronts, Roy Hodgson will, no doubt, be welcome of the services of Davies.

After the triumphant display against Notts County, Davies talked about getting his season kick-started, progressing in the FA Cup and also the prospect of the Europa League tie this Thursday evening, remarking,

'It was good to get off the mark and the first goal's always an important one in a cup tie,'

'I think once we got that, it sort of killed them a little bit and we controlled the game from there on."

'It was comfortable once the second and third went in and we could have got a few more if the final pass here and then had been a bit better."

'But it was a job well done and we keep on the little run we are on ahead of that massive game on Thursday against Shakhtar Donetsk.'

With a possible FA Cup Quarter-Final tie to come against his former club, Tottenham Hotspur, I reckon Simon Davies can`t wait to get back into the swing of things!

Great to have him back. He must be a bonus for roy with all the injuries. Lets hope he stays fit till end of season....
Leonestar
yes, he can be very useful as the season runs out...

It will be interesting to see, when all our wingers are fit, which two will be in the starting 11. It will be difficult to choose between Duff, Dempsey and Davies (the three D's as they might be known). My personal pick would be Duff and Dempsey, but that has to be biased based on Davies only just coming back. Thoughts people?

could we not try Davies and Dempsey wide with Duff behind a striker - he's quite versatile isn't he!
Al Billy
Glad we have him back healthy, but his days as a regular are numbered.

roy seems to like players who captain there country how many do we have now

Good thought Al. Even Dempsey might be able to play an attacking midfield role behind the Johnson and Zamora.
Riverside Chanter
Good shout actually. I wonder if Dempsey could be the future attacking central midfield...with davies and duff on the wings. Add Des tutu in the mix and you have the "FOUR D's"
Leonestar
I'm a double 'D' man myself!
