Fulham - You Missed Out Arsene!

It`ll be interesting to see exactly how many games Chris Smalling makes for Fulham before he joins Manchester United this summer in that much-vaunted £10 million transfer.

Although nothing has been stipulated regarding injury affecting his move I wouldn`t mind betting that the odd phone call, or two, has been made between Sir Alex Ferguson and Roy Hodgson.

In recent fixtures Smalling has had to be content with a place on the bench as Brede Hangeland and Aaron Hughes continue to provide our best central defensive partnership.

Hangeland, speaking about the Smalling move to Manchester United, has recently remarked that Arsene Wenger will rue the day he let Smalling slip through his fingers and sign for Sir Alex. He`s also gone some way to talking up the future of the youngster, remarking,

"He has got just the right mentality and has worked really hard."

"We have told him to try and stick to that philosophy."

"He`s young, he`s big, he`s quick and good on the ball - there`s not many of those central defenders around."

It`ll be interesting to keep an eye on just how far Smalling goes in this game of ours!

We've got a similar defender coming through our ranks called Jeffery Bruma, only 17 but is being touted to make it to the Oranje WC squad (And almost certainely will if some defender gets injured).
