'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fulham - Did Alex Forget?

Anyone else find this a little short-sighted on the part of Sir Alex?

It`s being reported that Sir Alex Ferguson, when organising the signing of Chris Smalling, made no attempt to insert any clauses into the contract calling the deal off if Chris were to get injured.

In fact Chris could suffer a career threatening injury (although we hope not) and Sir Alex will still have to cough up the readies, as Roy Hodgson explains,

'Sir Alex is also realistic to know he`ll be playing a lot of football between now and the end of the season - and things can happen."

'The question of Chris being injured never came up. And knowing Chris as I do, he`ll play well for us until he goes because it takes pressure away. His future`s been even more finely tuned by joining Man U.'

In fact, the only stipulation (as we all know) inserted was that Chris will not be able to play for us when we play against United on March 14th.

Strange, very strange when you consider how many injuries we`ve suffered this season!
